The second month of the year - February has also historically been known as 'mud month' or the 'month of pearls' according to european tradition...for us the month of pearls..would best describe February 2008. The days seem to fly so fast and thank goodness we have been given an extra day this February ...we certainly seem to need it.
The centre activities have been busy through February with a range of activities including community access, gardening, work experience, swimming and hydrotherapy, Valentines Day celebrations. In March their will be a Wildlife Experience Day at Mitchelton thanks to the Geckoes Wildlife Team, which looks to be exciting and a Parents Afternoon Tea.
The Quality Surveillance Audit has been conducted in February and we thank the team from SAI Global, the families and clients who participated in the audit and the staff who have worked diligently through this process. Auditing is an interesting process as it can force you to look at what you are doing...how you are doing things...and ways to improve from a different perspective. The process helps you to focus and remain committed to a common set of ideals or goals...an important process in the growth and development of a service or an individual.
The Ablecare steering group meeting met on 21st February and the next meeting will be held in March to discuss the audit report, once received.
A number of exciting new developments will occur over the following months. The Everton Hills office will join with the Mitchelton Campus. This will allow better utilisation of the centre and support for the Post School Programmes by having onsight management support for staff from the Regional Programme Manager, Director and Administration Manager's.
