With the beginning of April, there is certainly a chill in the air as winter rolls in.
This month has also been a sad period for Ablecare with the loss of Janie Gallanty who passed away after a short illness. Janie had been one of the first people to work with Ablecare for over 11 years. Her support, love and care will be missed by all who knew her. Our thoughts and condolences go to the family of Janie and another client of Ablecare who also passed away after a sudden illness.
We hosted a visit from the Japanese Social Welfare College, with 17 therapy students attending the Mitchelton centre. An Art and Craft activity formed part of the activities and it was an excellent day.
It is hoped to plan a reciprocal visit to Japan with clients and staff. If there are any families interested , please let us know.
The Ablecare Staff Handbook has now also been reviewed and the 2008 version will be circulated after final completion. We will be conducting staff training sessions over the next few weeks with staff. The Training Handbook has over 200 pages of Resource and Training material for staff which in turn should assist them to provide you with better services.
The Everton Clinic is still operating from Everton Hills, however the Regional Programme Manager's office has transferred to Mitchelton. We hope to complete the move to the new premises at Mitchelton in May.
